Passion mixed with experience
David is a product development consultant with over 8 years of experience in the design of systems and products and in the management of projects. He has worked for a recognised Cambridge design consultancy after holding a number of different positions working for a specialist equipment provider based just outside the historic city. The projects he has led and/or been involved with were mainly (but not only) developments for the life sciences. David has enjoyed every bit of his new venture as an independent consultant since September 2007.

David was awarded a PhD in design optimisation from Cambridge University's Engineering Design Centre. The research brought him a wealth of experience in a variety of disciplines such as hands-on engineering (acoustic, infrared, electromagnetic technologies), computer programming, statistics and economics, and resulted in a technology (some part patented) that is believed to have formed the basis of a Norwegian company's novel collection system for recyclable items.

Prior to the PhD, David graduated from a prestigious French Grande Ecole - the French Institute for Advanced Mechanics (IFMA) in Clermont-Ferrand where he studied disciplines such as design for manufacture, automation, robotics, machine controls, FEA, as well as management, organisational and cultural courses. David is fluent in both English and French.

When he is not busy playing squash in Melbourn or getting rugby-tackled by his 3-year old son, David likes nurturing his 'entrepreneur' side and often spends his spare time thinking of new product ideas he could maybe one day bring to market.
